Ilizarov’s Technique for Lengthening of Limbs and Its Applicability

The author presented Ilizarov’s technique and apparatus as an external fixator. This external fixator had been concluded for compression and distraction.
The author treated 324 cases with Ilizarov’s distraction-compressive external fixator.
The cases were:
- Shortening of the limb-congenital ethology, traumatic ethology, post inadequately treated congenital luxation of the hip joint.
- Unstable fractures with a free fragment and open fractures with decolman of soft tissue.
- Pseudoarthrosis with or without defects of the bones.
In all the cases satisfactory results were obtained.
