Deterioration of pharmaceutical products, especially those containing water, may result from Chemical changes, oxygen, light, moisture and microorganism contamination.
Those changes can be prevented or minimised by addition of a suitable antioxidant or an antimicrobial preservative. Their properties, potential side effects and interactions are discussed in this paper.
Many pharmaceutical products ought to be coloured for psychological and practical reasons, which is very important both for the patient and industrial pharmacist.
Colouring agents, used as colours for pharmaceutical preparations have been reviewed in this paper.
