1) Diagnostic and therapeutic interventional “real time” ultrasonography (IU), in the last few years, has developed ,as a helpful method in the clinical practice.
2) As an invasive or semi-invasive method, it is applied after other non-invasive or less invasive manipulations when the latter are unsuccessful.
3) Due to a precise guidance of the fine needles (Chiba, Holm, Surecut. Otto, Cook), and due to “moving” pictures obtained by “real time” technique, high percentage of success is achieved, without serious complications.
4) Guided cytologic and histologic biopsies are of great help for the clinical -doctor, especially in focal lesions of liver, pancreas, retroperitoneum and gall-bladder.
5) Abdominal lymphomas, as well as abdominal mass lesions, become reachable for cytologic and histologic analysis without risk. Obstructive jaundice. In its diagnostic aspects, gets a new form after UPTC and UPTW and its early diagnosis and treatment increases the prognostic success.
6) Therapeutic IU has facilitated the treatment of the pancreatic pseudocysts and abdominal abscesses as well as the treatment of the obstructive jaundice through drainage of biliary ducts.
