Arterial Essential Hypertensio, Myocardial Infarction and Heredity

The influence of heredity w.as studied in a group of patients hospitalized at the Department of Cardiology for essential hypertension (EAH) and myocardial infarction (MI). The groups consisted of 37 patients each. The average age of the hypertensive patients was 50, and of the myocardion infarction patients was 54. The results showed that 18 mothers, and 10 fathers of patients suffering from arterial hypertension had the same disease, and that 10 mothers and 11 fathers of the patients from the second group had myocardial infarction. Also, the results showed that siblings suffered from the same diseases, e. g. 12 brothers and 12 sisters of the patients from the first group had EAH, and 15 brothers and 5 sisters of the patients from the second group had MI.
