Diabetes Mellitus and Heredity

Abstract

The aetiology of Diabetes mellitus has not been solved yet. although it might be considered to be proved that it is a hereditary disease with relatively low degree of genetic penetrating power on which series of ecologic factors influence considerably in the sense of influence upon the degree of disease expressiveness. Also, the importance of ecologic factors on the occurrence of manifest Diabetes its evolution has not been studied enough yet, although the significance of those factors is doubtless.

The hereditary and exogenic factors affect the disease occurrence in this system mutually. The exogenic precipitated factors as realizers of the disease act consequently on genetic factors, so that probably the polygenetically caused changes become revealed and thus the disease gets manifested. Consequently, Diabetes mellitus is, from the genetic aspect, a heterogeneous occurrence.
