Abstract

A 5 months old infant was hospitalised at the Paediatric clinic in Sarajevo, which was a real therapeutic problem with complex dysrhythmias and dilatation cardiomyopathy. The infant was resistant to 4 antiarrhythmic drugs combined with heart decompensation resistant to Digoxin.

During the first three weeks the infant was treated with parenteral cardiotonic therapy, diuretics and antiarrhythmics: Isoptin, Rhythmochin, Gilurythmal and Novocamid. From the twentieth day on, Minsetil (mexiletin hydrochlorid) was included in the therapy, which was soon followed by the establishment of sinus rhythm, comparable with London study (11).
