The Effect of Sexual Steroids on Contractions Induced by Electric Stimulation of Nerves of Genitourinary System

Testosterone and Estradiol injected in the isolated organ bath changed the effect of vegetative nerve stimulation of the isolated organs from genitourinary system. Testosterone (10-4 Mol-lit-1) increased the contraction of vas deferens of rabbit induced by electrical stimulation of adrenergic hypogastric nerve. The effect of Testosterone on other species like guinea pig, rat and mouse is inhibition of contraction of vas deferens. Testosterone and Estradiol decreased the effect of cholinergic nerve stimulation on urinary bladder. Stimulation is result of the accumulation of cyclic AMP. Inhibition is-result of the change of cellular membrane.
