Sociomedical Problems of Nourishment in the Third Age of Life

The authors give a series of economical and health factors that influence adversely the population of old people to be fed adequately and qualitatively. A very important factor is the fact that, beside the reduced health conditions, old people are handicapped by a series of family problems — a bad economical situation, inadequate flat they live in, illness of the mate, inadequate care of their own children and, what is the most difficult, loneliness and lack of any social care about them when they are insufficiently movable or not movable at all. Ali these factors cause a great number of older people not to be able to purchase or prepare food for themselves, not to mention to adapt it to their needs, taking into consideration their age and wear of many functions of their organism. In the paper there are some recommendations for nourishment of older people.
